Thanks for this forum. I'm a newby, just ordered my first hammock, an ENO Double Nest. I haven't even gotten it yet and I'm already excited.
I've been a tent camper all my life except for a few years when my wife and I had a pop-up. When I still owned a motorcycle I made 7 trips to Sturgis and tent camped on all of them. Even though my "singles" are not heavy or overly bulky they sure did take up room on the back of a bike and as I've gotten older I find that the aches and stiffness of ground dwelling take an increasing toll.
I don't even remember where I initially found the info that got me started reading about hammock camping but I am really glad to have found it on the one hand and sorry that I didn't find it years ago on the other. Having a sleep system that weighs a pound and fits in a pocket would have been way better than lugging a 6 or 7 pound tent on the back of a scooter and then trying to sleep among piles of "bull chips" with only a thermarest between my back and the ground.
I look forward to this whole new experience and to learning how to do it better from the people in here.
Thanks again.
