Is hammock sleep different from other kinds of sleep?

    Hello Everyone,

To-day I went for a workout, then had lunch with a friend, and when I got home I decided to have a quick nap in my BB before resuming my day. I went into the hammock at 10 minutes to 4, and when I woke, it was 5:30. I have no recollection of falling asleep...only waking up. An hour and a half where time just seem to disappear...

And this sense of time disappearing happens quite often when I sleep in my hammock but doesn't happen when I sleep in my bed!

Is the quality of sleep in a hammock different from the sleep that we get in a bed, or lying on the ground in a you-know-what?

Has anyone else experienced this dramatic difference?

    Thanks,

    Coffeedrinker

i've noticed that when i sleep in a hammock i require less sleep. i norm sleep about 6 hours in a bed but in a hammock i find i only need about 4.5 hrs. so from my exp i'd say that sleep is better in a hammock

I too, have experienced this same thing. I sleep in my hammock every night, and I never remember going to sleep, and also, I never lay awake very long. I just consider it therapy of some kind and enjoy it.

I always attributed it to the fact that I was on vacation, usually beside a mountain stream, but I do nap better in a hammock.

Hmmm ... this will be fun to find out as I plan my first overnight soon. I mean very soon.

We should apply for a grant to do a sleep study!

Our hypothesis would be that hammocks provide the best sleep followed by a $4000 latex foam mattress. LOL

It's all about comfort. I sleep in a hammock every night. Why? Because it's more comfortable than a bed. I go to sleep quicker and get a more restful sleep. If a bed was more comfortable I'd use it.

I've had the same experience since going fulltime. At 61 years young can't really remember. Could it be the primal memory of the womb?
