This is the whole playlist on just intro to hammocks...

I happen to like the trip reports videos best. I'd say, if you were going to pick just one, this is a pretty good stand alone one. It doesn't feature too much time on just hammocks, but it does give you the general idea that adding a hammock to something like a hiking trip, only makes it better.

Personally I would recommend Shugs-Hamma-Nanigans. Anyone can lay in a hammock but Shug has perfected hammocking to an art form. Pay special attention to the more advanced ways of getting into & out of the hammock.

Disclaimer for Hamma nanagins....this is a trained professional. Balancing your head on a hammock is not recommended lol

I'm partial to the barbecue ones, too, except that they make me want barbecue when I'm watching YouTube late at night. Sadly, we have no late-night bbq joints here.

Actually I think a good first video would be the one where he shows all his hammocks and talks about them. this way you get a better idea of a few hammocks and the different bells and whistles for them. Helps figure out what interests you before you make a purchase.

Just a suggestion, but maybe a huge vat of popcorn, call in vacation for at least three days and embrace it. Is there really any such thing as watching ONE Shug video? Like many others, the comparison to Lays chips comes to mind. Enjoy it, you will learn a lot and be entertained better than anything coming out of Hollywood.
Happy Trails to one and all.
Enjoy the outdoors wisely and elevate your perspective.

My vote is for the " Minus 26º Minnesota Backpack Hammock Quest On The SHT " video.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jnoo4BPe2eo&feature=plcp

My personal favorite, due to the fact this was the first Shug video I ever saw, and his newest video at the time. They say you never forget your first time.

But seriously, watching his videos over the years have been a joy. The evolution of camera work and editing has been fun to watch, and I feel like every single video brings something different to the table. Shug's creativity amazes me and I would highly recommend watching a few a day, starting from these earlier videos and working your way forward.

P.S. Favorite Shug video moment: " Linville Gorge ...PART 3...8 Day Trip with Shug & Hickery " The storm on Rock Jock at Bean Camp. Min 2:35 - 5:00, "Sit'n out in a thunderstorm, laughing like a couple of idiots, . . . This is backpacking!"
