Have any of you tried to use an underquilt with a bottom entry hammock? I was wondering if you could get by with a 3/4 length underquilt or if I have to get the bottom sewed shut and a side zip put on. Anyone have any experience with a bottom entry?

JRB has an underquilt with a split made just for the bottom entry Hennessy. Check out their website.

Thanks I will take a look.
I'm told the Potomac by AHE will fit a BE Hennessey, and that you can use a 3/4 UQ but that it is hard to adjust because of the bugnet, but I have no personal experience with these. I have a BE Hennessey too, and I just got a used Jacks R Better Nest underquilt. Before I found the used Nest, I was going to have a MOD 1 from 2QZQ done so I could adjust a 3/4 underquilt. You don't have to have your BE sewed shut if you get a zipper.
Thanks, but a side zip and a BE seemed a little like over kill.
I like my BE too, which is why I was looking for a way to use an under quilt with it.
The JRB Nest works great w/the HH bottom entry. For me works exactly as advertized.
Just about any UQ will work with the bottom entry. You just push it to the side and it will pop back in place.
I suggest attaching the UQ to the hammock on the shoulder side or put an additional shock cord across the top to keep UQ from slipping off shoulder. You can't reach out to adjust so it is important that corner does not slide down.
The bottom entry HH was fairly common when the first UQ's were made. A search from 2-3 years ago will turn up lots of threads discussing UQ's with the HH.
