    DIY underquilt?

Looking on the internet and it looks like underquilts are pretty expensive. Like almost twice what I paid for my hammock. Though I hear it is a necessity. I am not good with sewing or things of that nature, but I have a friend who is. For those of you who have made your own, what did you pay for the materials?

    Thanks,
    Steven

depends on what type of under quilt you are looking for. For down you can go look at sites like DIYGearSupply.com and see what they are charging for down, there are plenty of patterns for UQs out there to find how much down you need. If you are open to synthetic then likewise you can go to the same link and there you will find a pattern for an Insultex UQ, which you can use to get a rough estimate on price.

I personally wanted to save money so I went synthetic and bought the IX stuff, cost me about $36 for the IX but I made a four layer full length that I got to test out last night and it felt like a heating pad on my back (which is really nice to me)

I spent around $150 for a TQ and UQ of I remember correctly. I got my down from wilderness logics. It really does depend on the size of TQ and UQ you're making and for what temp rating.

If you buy for your top quilt and underquilt at the same time and you are using Climasheild you should be able to get out for around $100 + or -
