Not yet - I was hoping Jeff's aspen-recon posts would help us gauge a good elevation that would be likely to still have leaves the first week of October, but it looks like they are starting to turn pretty fast, so we might miss them.
Even so, hanging in a bare grove of aspens would still be a pleasant change of pace from the sappy pines I've been hanging from every time I get out lately.
That weekend may work for me too. But probably one night only. Camping with the GF and dogs this weekend, and another 14er trip the weekend of 28/29th. Independence Pass was beautiful this weekend, but still a few days short of it's full vibrant change. Snowmass Village area had even less color change. depending on the area, the weekend of the 5/6/7 maybe have already passed us for color changes.

Boothill and I are getting excited to make this Hang! Our experience with Colorado is limited, unfortunately, so we don't really have a firm suggestion for a site. In looking at a map, though, are there any acceptable sites in the Estes Park/Roosevelt NF/Rocky Mountain NP or Golden Gate Canyon SP areas??

I got the all clear from my employers! I'll be there.
Estes might be too high up, I suspect the Aspens will be long gone if they aren't already. Gorgeous area though. Would be a great place for a summer hang some time.
All I know is, wherever is decided, I'll be there! Soooooo freaking stooooked!
I'd like to make this, but my sisters have talked me into taking them camping and fishing at Sugarite Canyon near Raton, NM that weekend.
I was up near Neatherland yesterday. Very pretty. Great colors.
You boys need to pick a place so those not living close can make work and travel plans.
I can't make that weekend I've already committed to a mtn bike trip at Golden Gate Canyon State Park for an Aspen viewing ride.
You guys should think about Golden Gate. I'll also suggest someone lead a day hike to Fraiser's meadow for some of the best aspen viewing in the state.
In my usual form here's a taste of what you might see;

Looking forward to reading the TR's when you guys return.
