    Not to hijack, but I want to do the same thing on a 17 - 18' center console boat. I picture poles put in the deep rod holders built into the gunnels. You may hang a little cantilevered over the water, but that would be coool. I dont think the rod holders would hold up though.
    So speaking of redneck engineering, maybe one of you good ol' boy scan start on this.

    Easy...use the seat mounts instead of the rod holders, back stay to the stern, fore stay to the bow, and hang 'er up.

    I love it...I have often thought if I needed to I could attach one end of my hammock to the tailgate latch on one side and the other end to a tree. Never had to yet...maybe I will fit my truck for this setup so I am ready in a pinch.

    Very nice rig!

    Wonder if you could take the same approach but using a Ladder rack instead? Then you could hang two hammocks side by side and rig up a tarp (cheap large wally world one) with relative ease.
