    Dutch hooks with 2mm Dynaglide?

Has anyone tried dutch hooks with 2mm dynaglide for a tarp. I know the hooks were made to be used with 1.75mm zing it, but I was thinking about switching to dynaglide with the thought that it might stretch less over night than zing it. I was able to get a hook on the larger size zing it so it stands to reason that it should work. I would like to lean on someones experience a little before I spend any smakaroos on some dynaglide. Thoughts?

does zing-it cord strech? Are you sure it's not the tarp fabric that stretches?

I too have never had the zing-it stretch. Dynaglide will work for a tarp too but from a strength standpoint it will be much more than you will need but if you want to try it, go for it. I have it on one of my tarps because it was on hand but I am replacing it with zing-it.

I have not used the hooks with Dynaglide myself, but I did see another thread on here somewhere that verified it worked fine.

Thanks, I figured someone had to have tried it. I am not switching because it is necessary, but simply because I think I will like it. The stretch I get with zing it is not all that much, and it isn't a problem. Most folks would say "if it aint broke, dont fix it". But where is the fun in that? I was just thinking it would be cool to get something thats about the same size and weight but twice as strong to tinker with.

Tinkering is fun But do the tarp need twice the strength?

I would first determine if stretching of the zing-it is the problem. Try a field test with pre- and post hang measurements of the cord. If the stretching is due to the tarp fabric you will have gained nothing by changing ropes.

It works .. but it really flattens the cord out .. it fit's the flyz and the stingerz fine .. I wouldn't recommend using it with the hooks due to the way it separates the strands .. use the Whoopies hooks instead .. I use 2. for a UL suspension .. with Whoopies hooks .. works well

Also, I like to hang my boots from a prussik on my my ridge line at night. I like to have them close by and easy to grab but not on the ground. That could be causing the little bit of stretch that I get.

I use the smart outdoors tarp cross hook thing for my one ridgeline that is dynaglide, I found the little Dutch hook was hard on the line and was hard to get off once you got it on. Or whoopie hooks could work
