    New tarp

I finally finished my first DIY project. I used the Hex pattern (sort of) from DiY Gear Supply. I'm pretty satisfied with how it came out. My son loves it, so I'm thinking of passing it on to him when I make a new and improved one for myself.

The entire campsite along with my new tarp.

I didn't get it fully seam sealed yet. I tried out there, but the sun was messing with sections of the sealer. I'll try again when I find a place to hang it indoors. It's nice to have a porch mode option and knowing that the ends of the hammock are truly covered.
My new vintage singer worked like a champ through it all, and continues to run better every time I use it. I even got a new power cord to install. The one on it is kinda scary.

Sharp looking tarp. Is there a seam along the ridgeline, or is the camo part all one piece?

Thanks! The camo is one piece. I'm not sure how much I like a seam above my head. My original tarp started leaking after one years use, so I though I'd try this way instead.

Nice looking tarp! I like big tarps like that. My tarp was my first mod on my Hennessy, theirs just felt too small. It wasn't DIY though, I can barely sew a button.

I also used this method of attaching the 2 panels for my tarp last year. I love the no seam on top. If there is a leak it's away from you on the sides. I did cat cuts on mine and it's long enough to have semi doors to close in for bad weather.

Very nice job on your tarp.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

    Thanks everyone!
Debi, this was my first sewing project since grade 8 which was a long time ago. If it wasn't for my mom helping me it wouldn't be done yet. I got a brand new vintage singer to do the job, and it worked great. It's actually a lot easier that I thought, although I need a lot of practice.
Floridahanger, I read about this design here, so it may have actually been you that inspired me to try this way. I'm not sure if I'll do the next tarp the same. That's a LOT of material to pass through the machine twice.
Rolloff, it looks great from about 10' out. Once you get close you notice the crooked reinforcements and other flaws.

Thanks Moutain! I was very pleased with the camo. It is much nicer than I thought it was going to be.
