    Tarp material volume

As water is my means of travel in a small boat, gear size is my main issue. What tarp material packs down to the smallest volume? It would not matter if a 10X10 weighed in at 50 lb if it packed down to the size of a pack of spam. So of all the materials available, which one per sq yd takes up less room?

Thanks for the input guys. The score is two to one, still too early for a decision.

Make it three to one. Even new, cuben packs much smaller than sil.

sodakgrrls's cuben tarp is smaller than my silnylon BMJ from warbonnent and i would say mine packs down just as small if not a tad smaller.......could be in the way we pack them too though

    I use and prefer cuben.
    It is definitely lighter!
But my HG cat cut cuben requires a bigger stuff sack than the larger sil-nylon Golite cave.

Are you comparing tarps of EXACTLY the same size?

    SpinnUL

How does SpinnUL compare to Silnylon & Cuben? SpinnUL is ~20% lighter than Silnylon, and it's significantly cheaper than cuben. Also how durable is SpinnUL, as sail material it would seem it would be fairly durable.
