    Hammock related accidents

So today I had an accident. It did not involve a hammock, but it is related. I was driving some posts in the yard to hang my hammock from and I was using a heavy post driver. One of the times I lifted it up to high and my father was pulling the post toward him. Well when it came down, the end of the post driver hit the end of the post. At that point it stopped going vertical and landed horizontally on the top of my head. I got just a small cut, but it was bleeding quite a bit.

This was taken a few hours after the accident.

I had a small fixed loop on a whoopie sling and a knot tied in the end of my gathered hammock, and quickly just put the small loop over the knot (no larks head)! Of course, I fell on my butt and learned a good lesson about taking the time to do something right.
In the course of learning about making hammocks I have fallen on my head and/or my butt about 5 times. Not recently though...but the day is still young!

I had just gotten back to Florida and decided to hook my hammock up on the balcony of my apartment. As you can see in the first picture, I had my biner directly attached to a screw in hook in the support beam on my balcony. The other biner was attached similarly, only the hook was in the ceiling of the balcony. We had used other hammocks on these two hooks before, but apparently there was a higher level of tension in the Eno than in the light, low hanging fabric hammocks my roommate brought home from Honduras.

After about 45 minutes of hanging, the support hook in the ceiling decided it no longer enjoyed its home in the ceiling and I came crashing down. It was probably a 5 foot fall and I landed directly on my elbow. The gaping hole came from the sheer impact of the fall, there was nothing sharp underneath me. Had to get 4 stitches. It was a bummer. Mostly on my wallet. Haha

I had that exact thing happen to me years ago putting up fences with my dad. I didn't get the cut, but I was done for the day. I've learned over the years on how to be extra careful while working with my father. Hope your head feels better.
    It'll be alright Friday!
