how do you sew in baffles

i have scoured the internet and HF and youtube. i can not figure out how to sew in the baffles for an underquilt.
i understand how you take the bottom shell (we'll say) and lay out your mesh strips. then you sew one edge of the mesh strip down.
but for the life of me i cant figure out how you sew the other side of the strip to the top shell.
on all the videos or pictures ive seen they sew that one side of the mesh and then they show the whole top shell done.
any vids or help would be greatly appreciated.

Once you sew all the baffles to the 1st side, roll up the 2nd side and place that roll under the arm of the sewing machine. Then lay the 1st side (with baffles) out on the sewing table next to the sewing machine. Now, line up the edge of both pieces under the needle and sew the two edges together.

Then unroll the 2nd side just enough to expose the mark for the first baffle and line that mark up under the needle. Now, pull the 1st baffle from the other side under the needle and sew that first baffle to the 2nd side. You now have the two edges sewn together and the first baffle sewn together.

From now on, it's repetition. Unroll the 2nd side a little more to expose the second mark, place that under the needle, pull the second baffle to the needle, and sew. Etc., etc., etc.

When done with all the baffles and the other end hem, turn the quilt 90 degrees and sew one side all the way closed. Leave the last side open to fill the down. Once the down is filled, sew up the last side. Done!

I was going to give my advice, but I do what Mike does. Maybe I can word it slightly different:
-Mark where you want your baffles on both pieces of fabric (on the inside).
-Sew one length of netting to become a baffle on one piece of fabric only. Sew each mark with a baffle on this piece of fabric.
-Sew two pieces of fabric together at one edge parallel with baffles on the first piece of fabric.
-Place second piece of fabric (now attached to first) under the needle and align each corresponding baffle from the first piece of fabric with the mark on the second piece of fabric.
    -Sew each baffle this way.
-Sew two more sides. One will be parallel to the baffles and one will not be. The final open side should leave an opening at the end of each baffle for filling the down.
    -Fill down.
    -Sew final side.
-Add accoutrements (like grossgrain for the shock cord).
    -Enjoy.

    this site helped a lot.

I sewed all the baffles on one side, Then I rolled up that side and the other with each baffle numbered on each side. Then, starting with "1" I sewed the other side on. rolling completed baffles together as I progressed.

My fear was of getting confused and sewing the wrong baffle .

Hope this helps. I know it's confusing.

Get some paper and tape and practice the procedure, two sheets for the shells, and some strips for the baffles. Once you do it once it will all make sense. MAD's instructions are very good. Someone that's good with SketchUp should do an animation.

i really really appreciate the answers people. i think what would really help me is if i could see a video on it. if anyone would be willing to make a short vid, just using dollar fabric just to show how its done would really help. again thank you so much for all your help.

    please keep the knowledge coming!

I did a video of a differential bridge UQ, it has baffles & the principles are the same.

On YouTube search for under quilt & gt7599a, sorry I'm on my phone so a direct link is difficult.
