Who's backpacking with a 0° Incubator?

I love my 40° Incubator and I'm thinking about getting something for colder weather. Even my 40° + 2oz overfill really takes up a lot of space in my pack, so I was wondering...how in the heck does a 0° pack? It just seems like it would fill the entire pack!

If anyone can compare the two or even all three Incubators that would be great.

I'm really tempted to try a 20° Phoenix, but anything other than FULL LENGTH scares my feet!

I have both the 0* incubator and the 20* Phoenix, no complaints on pack volume. Using a ULA Ohm. I carry a Thermarest lite seat for my feet. My biggest issue for pack volume in cold weather is extra clothes.

I'm with Bannerstone. Easily the bulkiest thing I carry in the cold months is clothes.

I have a 40* incubator and a 0* model. I'd say the 0* is twice the pack size of the 40*. I hate sleeping with a pad under my feet so it's worth the extra weight for me.

I've packed a zero incubator in my ULA Catalyst and yes it's bulky but man is it toasty. Generally I prefer a Phoenix however in temps in the single digits or below Incubator all the way. Living in MD I don't see those temps very often so generally I end up using my 20 Phoenix. I use a Z-Rest pad under my feet, place it inside my TQ foot box which keeps it in place so I don't have to worry about it moving around. When I made the switch from an incubator to phoenix I as well was a bit nervous however after several years of using the phoenix in temps above the single digits I and back packing I always take a phoenix over the incubator.

I backpack with my 0d Incubator and have no issues carrying it around.. it's worth every ounce. Like everyone else said, my clothing weighs more.

Thanks for the input everyone. Trying to decide what to get for winter camping. I planned on using the tent in winter, but just as I suspected, that will probably change!

I use a custom 0* incubator. It is both lighter and less bulky than my regular 20* incubator (+2 Oz overfill) One of the benefits of being short you can get away with a lot less quilt.

I have a 40f with 2 ounce overfill as well and pack it by placing it on the bottom of my pack and let it form around the open space is the rest of my junk fills it. This is w/ a old golite jam. I am sure I would do the same with a 0 degree as well.

I do that too plus my sleeping bag and pillow all in the same bag liner at the bottom. It works great. I used to pack all separate stuff sacks...what a waste of time!
