    Fail

So I was surfing youtube a few weeks ago and saw a skeeter beater, clicked it, liked it, clicked another, liked it, and somehow got suckered into believing that I could do a DIY hammock by some super energetic hammock sales guy named Shug! Come to find out Shug has a bunch of noob videos and last night I pretty much watched all of them. Hypnotised by his positivaty, I really thought, I mean he really convinced me and gave me the courage to fall flat on my keester. Somewhere between the sound of the nylon ripping at the seems and my booty hitting the ground, a lot of things filled my head like that's not really the seems making that loud ripping sound, am I suppose to lein back this far, OMG Shug's a liar, I knew this old tent wouldn't work, why didn't you just buy the ENO when you were at REI 20 min ago dummy, splat
Thank the Heavens my buddy was there to take pics of it all. I don't know who I like better him or Shug.

congrats on the splat. We have all shared (well most of us) the non-pleasure of our butts hitting the ground at an unexpected moment. Cannibal hurt his back when he fell hanging in a shelter on the AT. I think there is a video of Dutch falling somewhere...

Shug has taken many falls, many of them on purpose. That guy cracks me up.

Hope that fall didn't hurt anything but your pride and you continue hanging. Good luck to ya.

I'm fine, thanks for the look out. That was only the first out of four fails for today. My old cadillac car seat cover, and my bbq cover will no longer be with us and my wife is asking where her futon cover is and I feel bad because i blamed it on her cat and told her the cleaners said its probably not going to come out.

is this normal? I feel like I want to tie a knot around anything that's not dence and strap it around the two trees in my backyard using a different knot on both sides hoping to nap on it.
I don't know what Shug has done to me yet but I like it.

Yes, you are now part of the crazy HF group. You will fit right in. I love the hammock testing pants, great idea.

Before you consider the ENO though, checkout our great cottage vendor hammocks, I think you will find a better hammock that will suit your needs. That is unless you find something around the house that works, and your wife doesn't find out about.

Welcome to the forums. I'd like to say that I feel your pain, but can't. My only fail has been the slow collapse of my Turtle lady stand while I was lounging in the basement. I'm not sure I would have tried making a hammock out of an old tent. Love the Hammock testing pants

There is a reason why I keep 3 bags of ground up tire chips stacked across the bottom bar of my hammock stand. ;-)

All things considered I think you need to evaluate just how heavy a material you need. I'd guess 1.9 oz min. Maybe double layer if you are tall. ;-)
