    JRB microcarabiners

Are these carabiners http://www.jacksrbetter.com/index_fi...Carabiners.htm strong enough for hammock suspension setups?

No, they are more for quilts & light needs.

Try their JRB Tri-glides or Treklight has the carabiners you can use.

Also the CAMP Nano carabiner is very good.
My knife is so sharp it cut the sixth finger off my right hand! On the plus side, Inigo Montoya no longer hunts me.

+1 on the Gold C.A.M.P Nano 23's. I use them myself and they weigh the same as the Trek Lights and are 100% Climbing approved. Not sure the TL's are..but I could be way off on that as the specs say they are very strong. However my local Camping Outlet store sold the Nano's for a few bucks more than the TL's. I think I paid like $14 for the set. Plus you get the Gold Bling factory with the Nano's.

The TREK biners are rated to, IIRC, 1000#, that wouldn't be climbing rated, but strong enough for a hammock, at least they've worked well for me.

Crap, I didn't know the Trek Lights were rated that high. I've got one for my ridgeline, but have the C.A.M.P. ones on my suspension. I was just thinking yesterday how much I don't like the bling. Everything in my whole setup is nice and stealthy, except those.

I want to be sure the killer finds me last.

How small are the trek biners compared to the Camp nano?

Trek Light carabiners weigh in at only 20g and are only 3" long. As Take-A-Knee said they're not intended for climbing but an 1100lbs static load makes them perfectly suited for hammock hanging. All of the interior edges are nicely rounded to avoid any unnecessary impact to your hanging rope/strap of choice.

I've used the JRB suspension system I recently bought just three times. It uses the micro biners and one of them doesn't spring closed anymore. It just sits there open and I have to close it myself. I wonder how durable they are.

Did you contact JRB about it?
