    Spider Meadow-Lyman Lakes-Holden Village

My daughter and I did a 3 day trip through Spider Meadow, over Spider Gap, into Lyman Lakes and out Railroad Creek to Holden Village this last week. All in the Glacier Peak Wilderness of Washington State. A few pics:

Well we took 3 days, but that was being lazy. It's only about 20 miles total, with perhaps 3000 feet of elevation gain, mostly from Spider Meadow to Spider Gap. Holden is at the end of a road starting at Lucerne on Lake Chelan, and the fast boat trip (Lady Express) takes about 1-1/2 hours. Cost for us was about $38 a head for the boat ride. They also charge $10 a head to ride the bus from Holden to Lucerne. It's a 10 mile walk without the bus. Nice people at Holden, you can use their showers and laundry for free, and can eat in their dining hall for $5 for breakfast and $8 for dinner. Vegetarian meals, I believe, but we didn't partake so not for sure. There is some glacier travel on the Spider Glacier and Lyman Glaciers, but nothing too extreme. We just used Yaxtrax and had zero problems, even without ice axes. It's just not that steep.

Ugh....i did the Spider Meadow/Buck Creek Pass loop last year. Used the tent as i assumed i would be above the tree line most of the time. Each night i camped my tent was pitched next to two perfect hammock hanging trees and i regretted bringing the tent.
