Bangkok based - looking for advice

    Hi there,

Been based in Thailand for a number of years and thought it is time to try hammocking in the parks!

Normally get around on a bike (650 not a cycle)

Would be good to hook up with people based here or those with good expereince of the country.

    Chris

    welcome to HF from Tennessee

How many times have you been up to Chiang Mai?

    Welcome to the forum, Tiffer.

    Ahh, the Land of Smiles.....
Spent a year & a half in Thailand myself, mainly in the north,
    around Chiang Mai.
Usually make the trip back there every 2 years...for a 2-3month break.

Great place, once you get over the culture shock.
The Thais love their hammocks too....anytime, anywhere.

Enjoy your stay....if you like National Parks, mountains, waterfalls, hotsprings, etc etc,
    Head North !
Mountain views are good for the soul....& getting to them is good for my waistline.

    Too right!
I have been to 47 provinces around Toyland, most of which are to the north / north east and as you say, the north west is stunning. Truely stunning. Bit of a hike from Bangers though. Normally it is 8 - 10 hours on the bike but I think I'll start chucking the bike on the train now that I am less concerned about loading methods The guys are pretty rough with lightweight machines... not sure how they handle 200kg...

Khao Sok is a long way south! I've spent most of my time going north but I guess it is warmer in Khao Sok ^^
