I try to go out every 2 or 3 weeks. I've yet to go back to a ground setup since first trying a hammock. Even though there have been some very chili nights, it still beats waking up with a back pain so horrific, that a kick to the chest would be welcomed.

Sadly, only 2 or 3 times during the summer when we go camping. I've scrounged some pieces for a turtledog stand, so that may up my hang time a bit, but for the most part I find it difficult to abandon the Missus. No matter how much I enjoy hanging, I enjoy hanging out with the Missus more.

This will probably be voted as worst-post-ever for the forum, but the way I see it, hanging should complement and enhance my life--this way does... any other... a little less so.
You're gonna need a bigger hammock

Not as much as I want to and probably more then I should. I average about 3 weekends a month. I went for then weekend last weekend and I will be camping in it for the next three. Plus what ever time I put in it while it hangs in the house.

I started this hobby, with backpacking in mind. in April. I found this site and shug videos right before that so i slept in a tent first trip out..I followed Grizz hike and knew before i started that i wanted a hammock..
So since then I have gotten out usually for an overnighter or two every month til the end of August..Too hot and away on my one weekend a month left some things undone at home.. Now recovering from gall bladder surgery it will be next month before i can put my pack on again..BUT backyard hanging? usually 3-5 nights a week..family thinks i am nuts but just bought some hardware to hang inside too.. so since april i would say i average 2-4 nights a week and thats when i sleep the best!

p.s. it got down into the thirties and while i could have made do i will wait till i get my top quilt from Enlightened Equipment in about two weeks

p.s.s. The money involved i believe is dependent on needs and comfortability, with that said I guess I am high maintenance

I'd say my minimum number of nights in a hammock (not in my house) is somewhere around 40. This summer...well, it sucked for getting out. I was just too busy the entire season. I intend to make up the difference now that fall is upon us, but I'm not sure I'll get to the 40-night mark this year.

I came (hang) every month with Boy Scouts. Four times a year, I do an additional campout with scouts. Once per year, I spend a week in a hammock at summer camp. Over the past few months, I have added a few extra weekends hanging prepping for an upcoming AT hike, when I will be hanging for the whole week. I also do treks and outings with friends (like the AT section), either hiking or canoeing. A few times a year.

So on average, most months, I am haning 2 weekends (2 nights each). Twice a year, I spend a whole week in the hammock. I average 50-55 nights of camping a year.
