So with the rain coming in last night i thought what better chance to test out my setup. Luckily i was in the backyard becasue when i woke up there was about 6in of water under my hammock. So the question is I see all you guys saying just throw your bag on the ground under you on a mat of some sort. Well that clearly wouldn't have worked this time. Any other ideas?

when you open it up you get nailed by spam
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

Site selection is important, it isn't just for ground dwellers. I have had my pack under my hammock for years, in all kinds of weather and it doesn't get wet. Choose trees that do not go over an area which will flood and you will be fine. A convenient dead tree, stump or boulder make great tables for your pack underneath you as well. Happy hanging!
I carry a folding camp stool and before climbing into the hammock I just lay the pack on the stool. Keeps it high and dry but also away from some of the little crawlies that may be looking for a nice hidey hole.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
You could also hang a gear hammock under your hammock and that will keep your stuff off the ground.

i carry large black garbage bag and a 5' section of zing-it w/ a cont loop in both ends. there is a Dutch hook larks headed on one end and i hang my pack from a tree.
a tiny hole in a bottom corner of the bag for the line to pass throu will not let in much water.
both the line and bag can be used for other misc stuff if not needed for pack hanging.
I put my pack in a trash bag and it keeps it dry even when it's sitting in a puddle.
If you think it might float away just strap it to a tree..
If I expect rain I'll use the trash bag too. I always have one inside my pack anyway to keep everything dry. I carry it as a habit, rain or shine. I'll use paracord and a Nite-ize s-biner to hang it from the tree my hammocks rigged to if I feel like it or it seems better than under me.
I usually hang my pack on tree with my pack cover over it - never had any problems - like to have it high enough so I can get in it easy.
