    First tarp pics

    Everyone loves pictures.

Here's some of my latest tarp. It's my third tarp, second cat one. My last one was pretty good, but looked mighty homemade and could have used some more coverage.

Material is Ed's brown sil. Specs can be viewed at this thread:

    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=5930

Thanks again to warbonnet and everyone else for the useful suggestions.

Pitch here isn't very tight. I did the work at my office and just threw it up in here tied to chairs and phonebooks. The last photo is with my old tarp secured over it.

I'm about as happy with it as I could be before actual testing. Weight is a bit more than I'd hoped at 18oz, but it's only a couple extra and I'm excited about the extra coverage.

    Thanks for checking it out.

7/8", actually. It was all the fabric store had.

I love the color. I've been forever for brown sil to come back and saw that Ed had some. In talking to him, it sounded like there's already not too much left.

No one ever accused me of sewing fast before

Have you not had any problem with the plastic D-ring.
I would have a concern that I just might put a size 13 on it while on the trail or something just as dumb and break it.
I usually just tie my strings to the loop.

I like the tarp. Looks Great....when is my loaner due in?

Brian at OES has been sewing those on his tarps for years, I've never heard anyone complain about them.

Was not questioning anyones reputation or product, just a question to see if I am the only one that has ever broken a small plastic piece while on the trail.

My feeling is that the d-ring will last longer than just the loop. Cord on that webbing time after time is going to have some effect on it.

It's the same reason I switched from sewn loops to biners on my support webbing. I was seeing a lot of bunching and fusing of the webbing there when tying cord directly to it.

If you stepped on a d-ring and broke it, you'd just tie off to the loop same as you would if you'd never put it on in the first place.

Plus, they look sharp as hell.

Ok, I'll buy that. I just have not had much wear on any of my webbing loops to make me worry. BUT!!!! I now have a reason to go and look at all of them real close to make sure.
Yes, I agree, they look great. I have just broken alot of clips, snaps and the such when I sit to hard, step in the wrong place etc. Guess it is just the klutz syndrome...

I doubt it would really be an issue on the tarp tie-outs compared to the hammock supports. Just a good way of justifying putting them on there for looks

Looks great. First hang under it always make you feel good when it works and people ask where you bought it.
