    An open letter to tarps

    Dear Tarps,

You're bloody expensive. I didn't want to have to go to Wally World and get a Big Blue crinkly special, but your ridiculous costs are going to force me to do just that.

I hate that I need you.

    Love and Lollipops,
    Gresh

(Seriously, after spending the past hour pricing tarps, it's kinda ridiculous. It may be the way of things, but I just can't justify spending more for the tarp than I spent for the bleedin' hammock. Ugh.)

$42 for the Kelty 9, the 12 is only like 54 but out of stock.
iirc it was free shipping too.

Not cheap, but really not too bad.

    GOOD gear cost Money.....
no way around it ,it's like any hobby you get what you put into it
you buy a $10 blue tarp ,don't cry when it rips apart in the first wind storm
cause it will happen... trust me on that LOL

if you price the cost of Sil-nylon by the yard most vendors are not making a lot of money off there tarps

there are cheaper options out there
look at the Kelty Noah tarps there around $60
the OES Micro is only $65
warbonnet has a tarp for $75 if i remember
if you can find a guidegear tarp they are around $30 ... but they are very hard to find
keep an eye out in the For Sale sections for deals they do come up,just need to be fast and jump on them right away
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

    Couple tips for ya...

If you have a Harbor Freight near you, they sell a good selection of camo tarps... better than blue, IMO.

And don't run your lines through the grommets or it WILL all tear to pieces in the first big windstorm. Larkshead your lines on right behind the grommets. Much more durable that way, in my experience.

Good luck... I was in your exact same boat a month ago at most... now I have a camo Superfly. >.<! It'll get you too, just give it time. Hahaha.

LOLOL, the description gave me a good laugh:

"These Egret Nylon Tarps are strong, lightweight nylon tarps at reasonable prices!?"

    I don't know, ARE THEY!?

If I don't find anything worth having at Harbor Freight tomorrow, I'm gonna pull the trigger on one of these bad boys and find out, lol

you will be better off with 8x10
most hammock are longer than 8 feet
for the price it's a better option than a blue walmart of harbor freight tarp IMO
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
