    Update....

SilvrSurfr and I have agreed to follow 2Questions' suggestion and start from the south end. We plan to leave our car at the north end and get a shuttle from Pine Creek Outfitters to our trailhead which is about a quarter of a mile west of the Blackwell Hotel. Friday night's campsite is a mile and a half up the Bohen Run Trail before it turns away from Pine Creek.

We'll head up to the intersection with the West Rim Trail then hike north to an area just after Bradley Wales picnic area and hang our hammocks in the pines overlooking the canyon on Saturday night. We'll finish up the next day.

I've found some great maps and GPX files while researching this trip. Here are some links:
    Map 1
    Map 2
    Map 3
    Map 4
    Map 5

Also, download this and this GPX file. Save them to your hard drive and go to GPS Visualizer and load them up.
Check out the waypoints along the trails. Pretty neat. Clicking on the trail name toggles it on or off. There are overlapping tracks.

We're looking forward to some great hiking and hanging in the fall foliage. A big thank you out to 2Questions for his inside poop on where to hang.

I'm so wired for this trip - might be the high point of my fall hiking. Perrito has put a lot of work into researching this trip and working out the logistics. If I'm the only one that benefits, so be it. I'm a lucky man!

I almost missed this part of Ramblinrev's post. I'll call about this tomorrow. I hope there's still a spot available!

    Thanx Ramblinrev!

Looks like a low of 31 degrees - my kind of weather! We're still experiencing lows in the 50s here at the NJ shore. I did get a low of 45 at Batona Camp this weekend. Wonderful sleeping weather!

Based on your gear list, looks like you are well equipped for this hike. I hope you can make it. Perrito and I are probably going to talk by phone tomorrow to finalize logistics. Let us know.

I would join you but I have a commitment that weekend and doing a NJ AT section hike the following weekend.

But I am going to refer to this thread and will try to do the rim soon.

    Have a great trip!

Perrito, you got water all figured out? I was planning on bring four half-liter bottles, anticipating that we could find water along the way.

There's supposed to be plenty of water along the way. We should be OK.
