    Hammocking in Florida?

My wife and I will soon be driving to FL and staying for a couple of weeks. I'm considering taking our hammocks and camping gear. Most of our relatives live in the Tampa and Orlando area although we may also head to the Everglades for an air boat tour. Any suggestions for some hammock friendly car camping?

    Thanks, Miguel

Only if you have a hammock stand. Very few Florida parks will let you use their trees. You can't blame them, parks in Florida are used quite a bit and any tree that is used for Hammocks all the time will soon die.

True about the state parks. I was at Gold Head earlier this month and the ranger made us take our hammocks down. Even the clothesline had to come down. They said it wasn't about the trees, it was about the wildlife and poor little deer running into things. Mmmkay.

Someone told me it's actually about the parks getting some sort of special designation but I'm not sure what for.
