Need Hammock Advice

My first was an eno doublenest. Im much shorter than you so I found it comfortable for the price. I'm glad I went with something cheaper at the time so I got the initial purchase out of the way without spending a lot of money and that way my impatience wore off enough to let me dial it in and figure out what my next hammock would be

I think this is a great idea... get something inexpensive first, sleep in it a few times, figure out likes & dislikes, then dial in to something more permanent. I can always donate the first one to the local Boy Scout troop.

eno doublenest, grand trunk skeeter beeter pro, butt in a sling double camper, wilderness logics nite owl , even snugpak jungle hammock, also more expensive is the wbbb and switchback 1.9...those are some of them, being a big guy i noticed that too but keep going you will find what works for you
might also want to try trek lite and ddhammocks

Thanks everyone for the input. I picked up a Grand Trunk Skeeter Beeter Pro from our local Hike & Bike Shop today. Decided the best research is actually laying in a hammock rather than just watching youtube videos about it. I can always upgrade to bigger and better as I figure this all out. Can't wait to get my first overnight hang in. Now if I can just convince my wife to buy me the 4-season cat cut cuben fiber tarp from hammock gear for Christmas I'll be all set.

I bought the "grand trunk" "ultralight"*green* and a cheap tarp coughlans aluminum tent stakes with paracord and treestraps and my overall weight is about 2 lbs but ijust tie my tarp to the hooks I hang it with and stake it to the ground, it works great>

Just keep in mind that it may take several tries to get comfy and if it doesn't work out with what you've got, that does not mean that other hammocks won't be comfortable. You're right that the best thing to do it try, just don't judge hammocking based on the experiences of one hammock. I'm sure I'm telling you something you alredy know. Have fun.

Thanks Bubba... I'm committed to making this work and will definitely try other options if this one doesn't feel good. Got lots to learn and looking forward to the adventure of it all.
