material for hammock sock?????

Does anyone know for sure about condensation with Momentum50? It seems ideal for an UQ protector. But what about a full enclosure? I suppose one could fashion vents on the upper portions if condensation is a problem top side. The head end of a weather sock is more open anyway, right?

M50 is a great deal less breathable than M90 and condensation is more of an issue.

For most cooler nights in Fall and Spring, I'd follow WV's earlier advise and go with a DWR treated 1.1 nylon.

For real cold weather in Winter or where a greater wind/water resistance is desired, I'd go with M90.

I have not yet seen DIY Gear Supply's Impetus fabrics, but I'm looking forward to giving these a try real soon.

I hung last night at Mohican site #10, here in Ohio. It was rainy, windy & in the upper 30's. I really wish I had brought a sock.

I would be a bit leery of M50 for a sock although I haven't used it for that purpose. I have used M50 for several other projects and it is not very breathable. A sock would give me pause.

My frost bib........only way I can keep my condensed breath off of my TQ in winter. Mine is a piece of fleece.

I just ordered some M90. thanks everyone for all of your help and suggestions. I will let you know how it turns out. I am heading to Yellowstone the 18th of Oct for 3 days and a 30 mile thru hike. I am sure that the sock will come in handy!!! :-)

I wouldn't make a single layer hammock with it, but I think it would make a fine double layer hammock. In fact, I've made two doubles with it. I've also used it for footbox material and I've made a over-cover for my WBBB. I suppose a very light person could use it for a single layer hammock but don't forget to take your keys out of your pocket.
