    Swaps

What are the odds that a swaps section with the Marketplace sub-forum can happen?

I was just thinking it might be nice for people who have superfluous gear they want to get rid of and not necessarily sell it, but offer it up for trade might be nice.

For example, "Hey, I've got this extra bug net that I don't need, who's got something to trade?"
"Oh, hey. I've got this whisperlite stove. Interested?"
    "Sure. Let's trade!"

    Everybody wins.

That's not a problem that doesn't happen in the PIF forum or the For Sale forum, I suspect.

I think you're reinventing the wheel. Just post WTT and it's all good.

sometimes you can try to make the wheel better
without trying to reinvent it. :-)

Just because you do it a lot doesn't mean you can't do it different.

In my particular instance as an example, I don't have a lot of expendable income. I'm more interested in a lot of cases in trading something I have for something somebody else has. Rather than wade through all the "give me money for what I have" posts that obviously (and rightly should) dominate the "for sale" section and waiting three days between claims on the PIF forum, this could be a viable alternative.

Just because YOU aren't interested in adding a sub-forum doesn't mean we don't need any more sub-forums.

If it gets implicated and actually works, I'd be curious to see who of the dissenters finds it useful and only argued against it because it was new.

Ultimately, it's up to the mods/admins because they're the ones who would have to regulate it for off-topic posts.

    Improvement isn't reinvention. It's innovation.

listen more sub-forums means more work for the mods

not trying to come off like a jerk but you been here a total of what 11 days ?
sit back and relax and enjoy what we have before trying to change whats worked for years

new ideas are nice ..but try what we have already before jumping the gun
you will find it works just fine

You're kind of a defensive fella. If not, you come across as one. He was just responding to a thread you started.

And sarcasm masked as wit is still sarcasm.

Postscript: I see no reason for a new sub-forum when WTT has worked for the short amount of time I've been here.

I noted that it was more work for the mods, thus ultimately up to them.

Further, I've been a member for a short while, but a lurker for considerably longer. You're not at all coming off like a jerk. Relevant discussion is the idea behind the suggestions forum. If nobody discussed these things, then new things (for better or worse) would never happen. Just like you dislike the idea, another person has already voiced support for it, and I appreciate both sides.

I've tried what we have, and see a way to possibly improve it. Besides the more work for the mods, have you any other reason to suggest that this may not be a feasible or good idea?
