I go sailing in high winds on the Shrewsbury River, and I am easily talked into walking the boom.
After our soccer team suffered a competitive 5-0 loss, a few kids and adults hit the Shrewsbury River for some sailing. The winds were 20-30 mph and we almost swamped a few times. We saw quite a few sailboats that swamped while we were out.
I don't know squat about sailing, but I now know that one person can be the difference between the boat swamping versus staying afloat. Amazingly, I was the heaviest person on the boat at 150 lbs. The captain was ordering me around like ballast to keep the boat sailing.
I had some struggles getting a cold beverage, and was talked into walking the boom. It was a really fun day.
