Thanks again for the info. This seems like a hands down(no pun) choice, $4.. oz?, compared to other prices I've seen ($29.95 @ thruhiker) for 900FP. After all the 900FP claims I am lost. I've seen the math, and have heard conflicting claims including eider duck fill. I can't imagine needing more than 800fp, to accomplish the projects made or sold here. How much weight could you save to justify this kind of price difference? Guess I will never know the difference, unless I hit the lottery.

I realize my question is slightly off topic, but for how useful the info on this thread is, and since you seem to be fellow DIY'ers, my question is: how much down should I purchase to make a full length(essentially a UQ pod) to go down to the 20-30 degree range? I'm thinking around 20oz., but I could be completely wrong.

You have to figure out how much loft the quilt needs for the temperature range you want, use that to calculate the volume of the quilt in cubic inches and then divide that by the fill power of the down you will use. This gives you an amount of down in ounces. Take that number and add ~20% to get a fair estimate of the amount you need.

    Down

Since the last post on this thread was in early 2013, how do you rate the down from the OnlineFabricStore that several of you mentioned? Online, they don't give the fill power of the down. Were you satisfied with the down you received? Is this a good source for down? Thanks.
