    Hi from Michigan!

Hello everyone, I have been lurking around on and off all summer. I bought an ENO Double nest at the beginning of the summer and have taken it on a few hikes just for lounging. The nights I have slept in it have been simply wonderful. I hope to be able to convert my system to feel confident with being tent free... I just need a good tarp. I personally like to sleep in the open air when the weather cooperates. Any way I look forward to all the advice you fine people can give:-)

    Welcome from the Buckeye state.

You have a promising gear maker in your state who's rolling out a rather large new tarp http://tewaunderquilts.webs.com/
We saw some of his work when he and his gf came down to Ohio last summer for a group hang at Mohican.

Besides that plenty of other great gear makers out there and a healthy used gear market here on the forum to take advantage of.

Good luck to you and ask away, plenty of helpful folks on hf.

    Welcome from Greenville, SC.
Don't be afraid to use the good old blue plastic tarp from Walmart-Home Depot-Lowes. I do (although I swear I hear snickering from the better equipped hammockers) and it works great. That said, I am in the process of sewing up my own full-size silnylon tarp.
There is tons of information here and all you have to do is look it up or ask.
There are also many group "hangs" that get proposed and announced on this site. (CLICK HERE FOR THAT) You will find folks that are very friendly and free with information if you go to one- even if you don't stay overnight. In fact, the biggest problem you might have is getting them to stop! We love our gear and talking about it....even if it is blue and from Harbor Freight!

Welcome to the group from Dayton Ohio! Sleeping beneath the open sky is a cool notion but in a hammock you are likely to be under some trees. There is always debris on my tarp in the morning. Better on it than in my hammock. Hope you get out soon! Let us know how it goes.
