    Thanks for the kind comments.

@mbiraman A hundred years a go, the loggers depended on that whale blubber to keep them alive through the long winters ;-)

    @ born2roam thank you

@ shewie Seems to me you have found some good places on Britain to paddle yourself. e.g Thirlmere! Awesome. One thing we don't have in Ontario is any good high hills in the background.

@dragon360 Mid-week rules. I always book the lakes , rental car, and rental canoe last minute so mid-week has the best chance of getting the route I want. I planned the week off to go hiking somewhere (Bruce or Killarney or Western Uplands or something) but i had such a good time paddling 3 weeks ago, I decided to paddle again.
This time I didn't reserve lakes in advance at all, just showed up at the permit office at Canoe Lake and prayed I'd be okay. When the ranger there said, "Parkside Bay?...ummm...3 of 16 sites are booked," I breathed a sigh of relief.

@harrellt That was a very relaxing trip. When you are worried about the wind and waves and getting to somewhere before dark, etc, you don't have time to worry about other stuff. (On the other hand, i took it easy km-wise, and slept in a bit in the mornings and created some of that stress by setting out late each day!) That's it for me for this season. I need to work sometime. I took a LOT of time off this year. Just weekend day trips now.

@ninkum, Jayson, bcaron Forecast looks good for this coming weekend. I think at least some of you are going on the Eastern Great Lakes Hammock Hangers Hang in Algonquin this weekend? Wish I could go, but familial duty calls.
