shorter bury on whoopie sling fixed loop?

so I was thinking about whoopie and had a thought...I will try this tomorrow but wantef to get it on paper while it is still fresh in my mind.
after you do your locked brummel what if you use the same standard amount of cord but bury it half the normal distance? after you bring it out of the bury pass through the standing part slightly above where you came out and bury it backwards through the previously buried section. to help visualize picture a bury wiyhin a bury within a bury. you don't save any card but end up with a substantially shorter whoopie while maintaing full recommended bury length.

    I welcome all constructive criticisms.

I will post pics tomorrow and test it this week.

Where the bury exists is the weakest point of a whoopie/fixed eye. I suspect a double bury would make it even weaker, provided you could get a double thickness buried at all.

It's the area of displaced strands at the exit that creates a weak point. Passing the amsteel back under this area a second time will cause additional displacement further weakening the area.

I think what you describe violates the principal that you taper the bury so that there is not a stress riser. That riser will not only be the place of failure, but more seriously if the rope is heavily loaded and stressed repeatedly -- thousands of cycles, to be truthful-- the point of premature failure and at a lower load. You are wearing out the rope at one particular point with an abrupt difference of strength at one point. (Or line to be correct.)

Here's an alternative eye splice from a trustworthy and major cordage maker:

You'll have to count braids to see if it implies a shorter bury and weave.

If I am understanding you correctly....

I do not think there is enough room to double up the bury inside the line. Not to mention you will seriously deform the line and as DemostiX, cause a serious stress riser.

Also, substantially shortening the whoopie seems excessive. With 7/64 using a locked brummel, the bury length is just over 4.5". IMO thats not very long. You are only talking about shortening the total length by 2.25".

Second also.... By increasing the diameter for the fixed eye bury and then starting the adjustable eye bury close to the end of the fixed eye bury, you will have some serious deformation of the line at this junction.

    Please proceed carefully.

DemostiX, Dynex is not Amsteel Blue. Please use caution suggesting different splice methods for different types of line. Unless you have personally tested this splice in Amsteel Blue......
