    Shamu or jarbridge

I need some insulation... I want full length, and down to the 40's should be fine for Texas... These are the two I see that fit those descriptions... They are $135-155 unless prices have changed on stores without actually changing on website...

The shamu is 16 oz or so and the jar bridge is 30 oz... I guess I just want a second opinion on this, the shamu looks like it fits what I need I just don't want to have to buy twice...

Actually the Jarbidge is $100 currently and about 20 oz. It's also a long partial length not full length......which would be the New River.

I have the Shamu, my brother has the New River; neither one of us is going to give them up!

There is no way the Shamu weighs 16 Oz (maybe with a canvas cover!): I think mine is around 12 Oz. The Shamu is a full size UQ; from feet to shoulders.

'Possum's New River is the nicest synthetic UQ I think I have ever handled. One thing I noticed between the two is that the New River warms up quicker than my Shamu; not as quick as down, but it is noticeable. Plus I think the New River has a little more length; not that the Shamu is too short, but there isn't much wiggle room.

My Shamu is half the weight and pack size and a little less expensive. We both get to the same temperature though and either one is perfect for Central Texas winters.

If you don't mind the extra weight and (slightly) higher price I would get the New River. If weight is a concern and saving a few shillings then get the Shamu.

Actually I need it before then... And for that trip... I have a hang in the hill country towards the end of October... And I hate staying home just because I don't have the insulation to hang...

Looks like the shamu is the winner, I'm a hot natured guy, only thing is, is that my feet get cold, so that's Wu I wanted full length...

I'm sorry I was off on prices, it has been a long night looking at all the different options and I guess I got some facts wrong... I think I got the name wrong it was not the jarbridge that was in question but the full length new river I was asking about...

It is $155 if I have my facts straight now and is the 30 oz for regular full length and an even 2 lbs for the longer full length... Sorry to get the names wrong...

I am hot natured but have cold feet as well. No matter which under quilt/pad/whatever I use I need to manage my feet. For me the Shamu was a good compromise in length, weight and price because of this.

I keep my feet warm by wearing good, dry, clean socks to sleep in and a small supplemental CCF pad for those really cold nights; you know, like 20°. Hey, that's cold for us!

I never have tried a Jarbridge but I absolutely love love love my Shamu. I had one of the originals and was quite happy with it but the newer ones with the nylon covering are the Bomb! BTW...it weighs 11.6oz ready to hang. It's one of my favorite pieces of gear.
