First Annual Powhatan Hang and Work - April 17-19, 2015
I have hung in lost maples and garner state park, and discussed it with hill country state natural area and so far no one has balked at the idea... I guess most people don't want to start trouble with the bearded shaved headed biker...

Yep, National Parks and Forests are good with hammocks. There are a small handful of exceptions to that, though. Very high-use areas, such as Yellowstone, do have specific rules about attaching things to trees and structures. However, those rules (all that I am aware of) only apply in the designated formal camping sites; not to the backcountry. I had a great discussion about this with a gentleman at the BLM a few years ago. He is the one that gave me the information, so I tend to believe it.
Trust nobody!
My backpacking/hanging destination is so far off the closest trail (still using LNT, of course) that I've never had a ranger or anyone else question me.
I like it that way, too!

Surely, God could have made a better way to sleep.
Surely, God never did.
Does anyone know where the regulation that it is OK in Federal parks?
