My Golden Gate plans might fall thru if so I'd like to join you guys and gals.

Someone mentioned the bathrooms might be locked.
When I kayak in Utah on the Green or Colorado river you have to packout all your waste.
I've been using one of these dry porta potties for several years and they work great. and you can't beat the price ($24).
The only difference between child size and adult is the height of the bucket. The child size works fine for me. I believe
this is similar to what Iceman was talking about.

REI also sells this one for 20 bucks, and if the bathroom ends up being unlocked you could return it easily. Despite REI's extremely generous return policy, I would not plan on returning it if the bathrooms do end up being locked

    Great tip Loki thanks.

As I understand it Burning Bear has a very nice 5.5 mile trail the (#601)
East TH is just past the CG entrance. That might be worth looking into.

There are a handful of trails in the immediate area.

Word of warning: The approach to Burning Bear from Georgetown is still closed....I think. That puts 285 as about the only route; just take a right at Grant, CO.

    Guanella Pass

My wife and I drove over Guanella Pass on September 16th to see the fall colors. The road is great from Georgetown to the Pass, then begins a steady deterioration to Grant. They did a great job of reengineering this road.

    Good to know.
It was closed, or near closed, for so long that I quit even trying to go that route.

I have never been to one of these hangs and it looks like I will be able to make this one. Its an all day drive for me but I believe I can make it. Through looking at the dates and times of the posts I assume Burning Bear campground is now the confirmed location.

what condition is the road in? we will be driving a PT Cruiser and just wondering if it would be faster for us to come in that way instead of going all the way down to 285 since we are coming from the north.....we are pretty used to gravel roads here in the black hills but if it it's rutted up we won't have much clearance in the cruiser, thanks

    boot

update : just check google maps it show going through georgetown and down is actually 4 miles farther, after seeing this i am assuming going through denver to 285 is probably the best route.......????
