Glad we got a place nailed down! My wife and I will be there probably Friday afternoon through Sunday. We don't have any technically "cold weather" gear, so we'll just bring a butt-ton of blankets and stuff, we should be fine in the t**t. >.<!

How close are the sites to parking? Is there going to be any fee to be prepared for?

And just one final "inquisition" of sorts now that we're in the official thread: we will be bringing our two 40-50lb dogs unless anyone has something against the idea. They don't jump on people (maybe a TINY bit when first meeting people, but only rarely... they get very excited about new people, lol. But they're responsive to "DOWN!" and don't jump, ever, after a few seconds), and nobody has to worry about them stealing food; they're trained well enough to turn their heads even when offered. And they're silent unless spooked by something, like most any dogs. But if anyone isn't comfortable with them being there, I can figure something out.

I was already excited about this, but now the other half has authorized me to come home with a new hammock! Freaking score! October 5th can't come soon enough.

Come home with a new one? Better ask Brandon to make sure he brings a few Ridgerunners and have people bring their checkbooks

Also, the dogs are fine, and there ought to be plenty of spare insulation if you want to give a hammock a go overnight. No need to suffer through the t**t if you don't want to

We are still a touch early for weather forecasts, but the Friday before is predicted for mid-30s in Grant. Grant is at around 8600 feet and the campground is about a thousand feet higher. Figure on a 3-5 degree temperature drop from elevation alone, not taking into consideration whether winds are worse up the mountain or not, so you should probably plan for temperatures hovering right around freezing, and be prepared to go a bit lower.

No worries, contact has been made. XD

I'd love to spend a night in a hammock if someone happens to have extra stuff and is willing to let a newbie test it out. If not, no big. I'm happy enough just to be able to meet some of y'all and learn a ton of stuff, not to mention to get the opportunity to test a RR and a BB and finally make up my mind, haha.

A thought: would anyone like me to bring some materials and the tools to make some alcohol stoves? Could give us another something to to tinker with out there. Could bring a few bottles of Heet too, 'cause what's the fun in building stoves if we can't burn 'em?! Guess it kinda goes along with the whole gear expo idea too.

this mornings forecast says 63°/40° for friday and 59°/37° for saturday in Grant according to the weather channel website......add some elevation and she could get a touch chilly

and i am also fairly convinced that weatherman don't much, so i don't really put much faith in a forecast that is 8/9 days in the future

    Huh? What?
    Still drinking my coffee.

Extra hammocks? Yeah, I can probably rustle-up one or two.

Remember that I won't be there Friday, so you'll have to suffer hammock envy for a night if you're waiting on me.

    Stupid work!

I'll definitely put this on the menu, and will be bringing my "porta-potty with trash bag liners in the event it needs to be (Yuck!) packed out. Now all that's necessary is to find the place.
