    Sewing Cuben

Real quick question, are there any special requirements for sewing hybrid cuben?

I want to see if my Mom's setup will handle the material.

I'm not 100%, but I don't think you sew cube, I think it gets glued and or taped.

You can sew cuben. Nothing really different in the requirements. Just that depending on what you are making, sewing has shown to be the cause of some failures with cuben. My backpack is sewn cuben and haven't had any issues.

Use a wider stich then usual. I have started to taping first and sewing with a wide stitch. Seems to be the best of both worlds.

Well I'm looking to sew a small pouch with a mesh window for drying out firewood with my core temp. It won't need to be incredibly robust, at least as far as load carrying is concerned.

My Mom's got a sewing machine and a surger. But IDK what any of that means, but I just want to make sure that I won't break her machine with the materials I'm anticipating.

I think I can picture what you are doing and can't see why in that application the cuben cannot be sewn. Is this a pouch you need for wood to use to cook on? Where would the pocket/pouch be while in use? Thanks. Two Tents.
I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.

This pouch will be used to gather & dry damp wood, or tinder supplies when there's no guarantee there will be any at the camp site. (The last trip I was on I had to take some cedar bark from a downed tree with me because I knew there wouldn't be a good source of tinder at the next site.)

I envision it being approx 6in x 8in x 3in, with a mesh window occupying the top third front of the pouch. I'll store it under my jacket via a lanyard or clip of some sort.

I like the hybrid cuben because it's durable, light, and waterproof. The back needs to be waterproof because I tend to perspire a lot and I don't want perspiration getting into the wood I'm trying to dry!

She can use her sewing machine with a small size needle & thread. No need for the serger. The cuben hybrid will not hurt her machine.
