How long of a tarp ridgeline?

Posted this on the weather protection part, but no responses, so thought I'd post the question here.

I've got a HH Hex tarp. Stated length down the seam is 144". I bought 50' of lash-it, as well as dutch hook and tarp flyz.

Wanting to make a separate ridgeline using the flyz and hook...trying to get an idea on how long that ridgeline should be in total?

I'd like to use what's left for the tarp guyouts. I plan on using some shock cord tensioners and use the lash it with prussiks near the tarp for adjustment.

How long should I make the ridgeline and/or pullouts? Thinking 6' guyouts (x4), and a 25' ridgeline, with a little bit left for prussiks.

    Thoughs?

I would measure the circumference on some of the big trees in your area to make sure you have a long enough ridgeline.

For me I tend to go with 30' for ridgeline and 10' for each tie out.

I consistently use 25' almost everytime, and on occasion the 30' hasn't quite been enough.

    35' CRL

    x2-6' on one side
    x2-4' on the other

I usually also bring about 16' of shockcord. An 8' piece and a couple of 4's, for pull outs and porch mode.

12m/ 37ft for my tarp ridgeline-that length is usually just enough to cope with big trees or wide spacings.

i'm confused- nothing really new to me! are you asking about the length of the trarp's ridge? or the length of the tarps suspension length?

I believe everyone is talking about a contusion ridge-line (CRL) for the tarp. I have 30' and don't think I'd want to go any shorter. I think I have 8 or10 feet for the tie outs. I'm going to make some new ones soon but haven't decided how long I want them. I might do 4' with a eye on the end to larks head an extension on.

A contusion ridgeline? I bumped my head on my ridgeline and got a contusion! Sorry but that it is a pretty funny typo for continuous ridgeline.

In my neck of the woods, I wouldn't go any shorter than 35 feet long. You can always carry extra lengths to extend the ridgeline, but seems like having the right length is the way to go.

I find 30ft copes with most of my trips, if I'm short I can always extend with some spare cord, I've only had to do this twice in all the time I've been hanging though.

30' with 2 10' extensions with eyes on each end. They are dual purpose and serve for lashing.
We are now ready to start our way down the Great Unknown. We are three quarters of a mile in the depth of the earth. We have an unknown distance yet to run, an unknow river yet to explore. What falls there are, we know not; what rocks beset the channel, we know not; what walls rise over the river, we know not. Ah, well! We may conjecture many things. The men talk as cheerfully as ever; jests are bandied about freely this morning; but to me the cheer is somber and the jests are ghastly. Powell 1869
