Hang lines or ridgelines for storage?

I always attach my pack to a tree. I find a stick about as long as my shoulders are wide and lash it to the tree at about elbow level. Then put one shoulder strap over each side. This makes it easy to get into and you can see inside. If it looks like rain I can either put a pack cover over it or close it up.

I might try this except instead though of lashing to a tree, I'm going to lash the stick to the triangle on my Ridgerunner. Thanks

A decent pack cover and a tree, always has worked for me.
