On a recent hang, I noticed a very slight chafing on the amsteel going thru the metal buckles on my WBBB.
The area obviously takes all the weight, so the cord is flattened and I'm worried about it eventually failing. Does anyone have any suggestions? I like to be proactive, but I'm sure I'll make things worse if I try to swap it out with new cord.
I guess I can just keep an eye on it and fix it if/when the times comes.
It's not hard to swap out the amsteel and cinch buckles. Its a matter of removing the existing loop from the hammock, cutting off the continuous loop, make a new one with the cinch buckles on it and put it back on the hammock. There are youtube videos on how to do it and if you can't splice to make a continuous loops you can just make them using triple fisherman's knots.

it's probably the tip of the bury sticking out of the splice a little rather than an actual fray. email me a picture to: [email protected] and i can probably tell by looking. i doubt it's frayed as those buckles are pretty consistent as far as sharpness goes and the amsteel is quite resistent to that sort of thing
