Can't wrap my head around two fixed eyes...

Can anybody point me in the right direction? I've had a double fixed eye extension piece made before, but I'd like to try it myself for use in part of a removable RL. Ideally the finished length would be 20" overall with an inch or two of loop on either end. Thoughts?

I think the tricky part would be to get the end that was done first through the line in the step before you do your last bury. Typically it's just a standing end and has no problem getting through there but once you turn that end into a locked brummel there is more material to get through there. I don't know of any tricks other than to muscle it through there.

I do that stuff with 1.75mm zing-it all the time, really it's much easier than it seems.

The McDonald locked brummel is another answer. It has become my favorite way of making a loop, even when the other end is available.

    VW beat me to it.
Here's an animation of the MacDonald brummel:

I've also just powered the other completed end through. It helps to get something pointy and tapered like a knitting needle to open and widen the splice before feeding the other end through.

I insert a nail set in zing it to open it up. For amsteel, I insert needle nose pliers and spread the handles apart to open up the hole. Just find something tapered that you can use to open to hole (bic pen, etc). Easy as can be.

I believe they call this a dogbone, which is discussed in this thread:

Right, like SS said. Here's how I do them. For longer, just add length.
