Question Quick Weekend Hang on the Chattooga 9/29/12

Anyone interested in an overnight on the Chattooga this Saturday? I am planning to be at the Burrells Ford parking lot around 9AM. This is sort of a "Halloween Pre -Hang" for anyone that would like to go. Right now there are two of us planning to camp Saturday night, either in the established camping sites 1200' down the old road bed below the parking lot or else do the short couple miles to the bridge area near the East Fork (Ellicot's Rock Wilderness Area). Sorry for the short notice, but I thought I'd put up a thread regardless. ( I really want to try out my new Catalyst pack).

I think we are planning on meeting at the burrell's ford campground parking lot at 9ish and the destination is the bridge by the East Fork. LazyBee has the specifics. Glad to have you come along.

    Smile Chattooga Hang

Yes, I am planning to be at the parking lot at 9-ish. If you are running late and don't see us standing around, you can just walk down the forest service road towards the river about 800 - 1000 feet and the Chatooga Trail is well marked and will be to your right a couple hundred feet before the bridge. Just follow the trail as it meanders along the river and after about 30-45 minutes you should see "the Beach" site as they refer to it up the river with a great sound of the rapids. This is a very good site and is usually taken early. Walk on past this for about 5 minutes and you will come to an area with perfect hanging spots everywhere, including some right down next to the water. This is the East Fork and you will see the where the little bridge crosses on the left, and a bonus..... it's going to be a beautiful full moon Satuday night too.
