What shape for you GG or foam factory pad?

For those of you who've bought the wide pads from Gossamer Gear or Foam Factory, what shape and size are you cutting them down to? I just received a foam factory pad. It's 72"x48". 32" will cover me at the shoulders and I was thinking about tapering down to 20" inches at my feet so I can lay on the diagonal.

I'd like to hear or see what others have done before I cut into it.

30" might be better at the feet.

Left mine at the received length and it worked out perfect in my DIY hammock. Crinkles a little when you first lay on it but I had lots of coverage for tossing and turning in my sleep. I'm 6'1" though so longer is always good for me.

    Suggestions

Are you sure 32" will cover you at the shoulders?

Start with 42" at the shoulders tapered to 30" and if that is too big then cut it some more. If you start too small you can never add it back, right?

The bag I modified was rated 20* so I've been looking at those nice big pads at foamfactory to reach a lower temperature.

With such generous starting dimensions one might consider more than a straight taper. You could trace an outline of yourself on it and cut several inches wider for shifting sleeping positions.

I'm on the smaller side (5'10", 165lb). 32" is ample. Today, I cut it with no taper to 32"x72". It did well in my BIAS double layer. But, I'm really itching to cut the opposite corners so that I can put it on more of a diagonal.
BTW, this is a 1/4" thick pad. I was worried that it would be too stiff. But, no. It's awesome and should keep me quite warm. But, being 1/4" it's too much pad to put in my pack and will have to ride outside.

I went with the JrB pad which is 26"x48"x1/4" just perfect to wrap my shoulder width
