    New Hammock

Well after months of looking I have finally ordered my hammock, I'm getting the explorer deluxe with hex fly. I've also gone for the bubble mat as when I have borrowed a friends hammock I was fine in Nov without any bottom insulation and I don't plan on middle of winter hanging - at the moment!
Can't wait for it too arrive, but I suspect it will have to go via Santa first.

Welcome, and I love my Hennessey Hammocks. You made a good choice.

I have the same setup. Received it last week and will be field testing it this weekend.

The bubble pad will keep you warm, but youm ight find it difficult to pack It doesn't weigh much, but if you roll it, its a pretty big, bulky roll; and if you fold it, its a big bulky cube. There's nothing wrong with that if you're wlling to put up with it, but I'd recommend your next purchase to be an Arrowhead Equipment Potomac underquilt if you find packing the pad to be a pain. I've got one and it fits great, is warm as toast, and compresses quite well.

I do think I'll use the pad for car camping, though.

I agree. I sometimes use a wide hammock pad from Gossamer Gear and it is also a pain to pack. This is mostly when the SUL bug starts nagging at me. My HG UQ is one of the best pieces of gear I own and worth the extra weight.
