Second Sewing Project! : Top Quilt

    8" Baffeled Construction

    Dimensions
    74" Length (uncinched)
    55" wide at head end
Starts taper 30" down from head
42" at foot end with cinch footbox and velcro closure

This one cost $31 and took a lot less time than the underquilt.

The finished length is about 5" too short for me, I cannot get it up over my shoulders. I did not take into account for the 3-4" length reduction that the cinched footbox takes up. I will have to get a little more fabric and add another baffle in later.

Somebody has been busy! First the UQ and now this. Looks great by the way--I'm sure it will serve you well. I'm thinking you should be pretty well set for the cold weather season.

    Looks great!

This is your second project? The quality looks great, what was you level of sewing ability prior to the UQ and TQ? I have to get busy.

Ha. First few posts and two large projects done. Feel like I have a tonne of catch-up to do!

Short of hand sewing a button on a shirt a few times I had no prior sewing experience. The UQ was the first time I ran a sewing machine. I practiced a straight stitch 3 or 4 times on scrap before I started the UQ. I found that pinning is the key and use lots of pins!

I think he means 8-inch-wide baffles, not 8-inch-tall, haha. Looks good!
