    Question Hammock Sock?

Does anybody have any experience with hammock socks? Warbonnet is selling them for their hammock line and claims a 10 to 15 degree warmth increase.

I don't have any experience with socks, but another option would be a bear burrito oven sold by arrowhead equipment, if your hammock is a blackbird. I just ordered one and will let everyone know what I think when I get it.

I have several hammock socks - all diy kind. Yes, indeed the socks trap 10 to 15 degrees or more. Just don't make a sock from water proof material. It needs to be breathable to keep the condensation at bay. They're very easy to make and very light weight if you use 1.1 ripstop with a DWR coating or no coating at all.

Hammock sock, good. Holds more of your heat.

I really only use them in sub-freezing temps. Most other times my tarp suffices. Many like the wind blocking abilities as well.

Here's one of the many threads that may help.

I have a papa smurf winter sock & a MMG sock. They both perform well blocking winds & adding warmth.

    Socks are wonderful below freezing!
    Make sure it's breathable.

I've been interested in the post ref. socks and they all have a common question, what should they be made of. Most of the time the next question is what do you want to get out of it. It would be helpful if someone w/ knowledge of these fabrics could make a chart showing the basic characteristics. (ie:water proof ,water resistant, breathable, weight,) just a few examples. Fell free to add to the list. Maybe this has already been done if so I would like the link.
    Your thoughts Thank you
