    DIY Hex tarp is ready

So I finally finished my tarp! 126" ridgeline with cat? cuts.

    I have proof:

    Sil from DIY Gear Supply

Cut and folded 4 times to make the side cuts identical

Then, the hybrid french seam. I rolled both sides to make it easier to pass the material through the machine:

Next was the hem around the tarp (daaamn that took forever!) plus 6 corner reinforcements along the way:

After that I put the tie outs with D rings:

"test hang" in my living room to measure the location for the middle pull outs:

Boy were these a big PITA to sew:

    And the finished product:

And, of course, after I already made my hammock, underquilt and tarp I found out that my machine came with a hem foot that makes these in no time:

Next weekend I'll be making a down TQ! Already ordered my pillows, need to order more nylon from DIY Gear supply...

EDIT: Do you guys coat the seams on the ridgeline and side tieouts with something? Will they "leak" if I dont?

    Very nice work indeed!

Yes, seal the ridge seam and side tie outs on the inside with Permatex® Flowable Silicone Windshield and Glass Sealer. It's available at auto stores, Walmart, etc.

    Nicely done.

Is the last pic, with the 9 Volt battery and pack-cloth, an illustration of a nice tight 1/8" hem with the hemmer?

Yeah. So easy to make it, I just feed a 1/4" fold to the foot and on the other side comes out this really nice hem!

Very nice! I am also getting a roll hem foot for my next project...saves SO much time! How did you get the X-Box stitching so close to the D-Rings on those tie-outs? I tried a zipper foot but still was limited by the depth of the foot when I tried to turn 90-degrees around the corners...
