    central NC hang?

I know we just had one 4 hours from my house, but are there anymore on the horizon? Maybe closer to the Charlotte area?

I might could be convinced to hit one of these up! I'm in Iredell County a few times a year anyway, and up in Stanley County even more often.

Any excuse to get me into North Carolina is good enough for me! I'll be watching this thread.

This one, this week-end at Parson's Mountain...near Abbeville, SC.

Mapsource shows just under 3 hrs from Monroe...

Morrow mountain is a state park. Uwharrie is a national forest which is free, but either would be closer then Hot springs. The only problem with that is its even further for those hangers from the last nc hang.

that still pushes it as far as hot springs. i would love to go to the western half of the state to hike and hang but i usually only have a few days or less. the drive time eats into the hang time.

In my opinion, why not just pick a spot and a tentative date and see who would go? Ideally, where do YOU want to go camping, and when?

Anyone ever tried Uwharrie National Forest or either of the two Campgrounds near there?

I've been wanting to go, no idea if there is an area that would be suitable for a group hang. Although if one were setup and my schedule permitted I would definitely be interested.

I have been up the uwharrie trail. There was a spot up the trail suitable for a hanging. I also think the wood run trail head is suitable, but the gate to be able to drive up isn't open all year. Either way we may need to hike it in and out. Its not a problem for me but seeing how I have never been to a group hang, I am not sure how that flies.
