It was really smart move to call the trip when you are in such pain. In the long wrong, things could have been worse. I'm sure you can do shorter miles backpacking trips. Hope to hit the trail with you soon dude.

Nice creek, nice view, but, but, but, how did those seal socks go, where they ok to wear after water got in them? Did they dry fairly quick? Did the socks have anything to do with your feet problem? I ask a lot of questions, don’t I? Oh no, that’s another one!

they were kind of useless for crossing the creek as the water was over the top of the sock allowing my feet to get wet anyway. I had brought them to change into at camp incase my feet got wet during the day and that is what I think they are good for. There are about 5 to 6 creeks that need to be crossed on the Ozark trail and I would have crossed the remaining ones without breaking stride in my normal socks and shoes which I know to dry quickly.

    Did they dry fairly quick?
Yes they did dry fairly quickly, but they fit much tighter than the Defeet socks I normally wear.

Did the socks have anything to do with your feet problem? No, I have a hereditary callous issue and they get soft and tender as they get used, instead of the opposite of hardening with use as normal callouses would.

I ask a lot of questions, don’t I? Oh no, that’s another one!
    no worries at all

I agree it is better to stop the hike before you get in trouble. You can go back later and finish.

Thanks for the report. Sorry the feet are still causing you problems. Heck, you might have to slow down to my pace.

Thanks for the answers, Skygzr! I’ve been thinking about getting some of those socks, but it sounds like the socks I’m using now are good enough.

if you mean the sealskins then I wouldn't bother- the Defeet socks are the best for hiking with a combination of wool and nylon in the correct proportions to really give the best performance.
