Who cares about showers, gourmet food, using flush toilets. Just keep on walking and being away from it all.

There are times that the only way you can do something is to do it alone.

I have made tentative plans several times, but they keep getting pushed to the right. I will be keeping an eye on this thread for my own curiousity.

Hi KK. I saw your thread over at Whiteblaze. I am seriously considering doing it this December - retiring effective 12/1 from one job and hope to hit the BMT a week later, southbound. I'll probably get off for Christmas for a few days and then go back and finish it. I'm going back to work in January in a different job...

I've got Rock's book and the maps too. So many places are closed that time of year that I think I will probably put out some caches. For instance I could put one at Smokemont and the Road to Nowhere and TwentyMile and so forth. Of course it would take a couple of days or more to hide all the caches, but it might be worth it. It could certainly save a lot of time as opposed to trying to get to town.

I think it would be a good way to do it.
