How noisy is your back yard?

Slept out in my DIY hammock last night, only a bit chilly , still 60's at night here in Ga. but had a pleasant sleep.
But man, dog next door barked till 5 am, at 5:30 am cat stopped underneath my head and coughed up a hairball, dog commenced to barking again.
People talking and doors shutting till almost 4 am.
This all on top of the normal sounds of nature.
All in all not a bad night just surprised me how much noise the neighborhood creates and how late.

Yeah I have the same problem and can't get to sleep in the back yard. People talking and slamming doors, AC units running constantly, cars driving by, etc.

Tried twice. About 150yds behind the house is Sharky's Bar and Grill, open until 2:00 AM. Can't really hear the music but the bass thump is just enough to keep me awake. Then there is the ambulance service 1/2 mile down the road, always busy but even more so with the snowbirds down during the winter. Then between 4:00 and 5:00 AM the garbage trucks are making their rounds to empty the dumpsters.

Slept out last night and can't imagine who was using the dumpster at 2 o'clock in the morning!

We're having our annual motorcycle rally in town this weekend so that was interesting all night long. All Harley's sound the same, apparently, and there were probably 200 of them here.

The park is on the long hill opposite the one I live upon. Big party going on there.

The medivac helicopter made two trips to Lubbock and back in one night. :-(

Hie thee to the woods, huh?

    Olddog,

reminds me of the camp my aunt had in rangely Me. just across the creek and road from the only bar in the area.
The bar was so loud that people up the road would come down to our camp and beat on the door
, despite the lights were out and no movement inside, asking us to turn down the music.
we'd walk them to the end of the building and point at the bright lights and cars. then go back to bed. ear plugs firmly implanted.

My small town living has turned out to be almost as noisy as when I lived in Atlanta - every year it gets worse with police and fire truck sirens 6x a night on average, tornado/flood siren tests, drunk neighbors firing guns in the air, air ambulance, lots and lots of dogs - barking because of the sirens or just for nothing. Now the high school drag racers are using my street for their 1/4 mile runs and not a cop in sight. Ear plugs needed every night. So much for small town living. Looking to go back to the Ga. mountains soon.

If you exclude the barking dogs, loud exhaust systems, revving motorcycles, a railroad grade crossing within 100 yrs., nightly EMS runs, and occasional gunfire it's not bad. The frogs get a little noisy in the spring though.

Spent last night out as well, high school football behind the neighborhood, the band sounded good though. Other then that it's usually pretty quiet if the raccoons don't get ya.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!

I live a block and a half from a football stadium that three high schools call their home field for football and soccer. So, not quiet most weekends!
